GADARMAL TEMPLE

The Gadarmal temple is located in Badoh- pathari in Kurwai tehsil of Vidisha district. There are two ways to reach the temple ,one is by road, it is 84 kms from Vidisha by road and the other is train root it is 19 kms from the railway station of Kulhar,Kulhar is small station on the Delhi- Bombay central line. The convenient way is by train as every body knows that the conditions of road in MP is not good especially in the rural areas. The Gadarmal temple is devoted to Jains. On the north-west side of the temple there is a group of Jain temples in ruined conditions in the base of the hillocks.Archaeological testing of these idols shows that they are from 8-10 century A.D.The temple is mainly famous for its enormous height which makes it visible from a very long distance. The temple as it stands, is of two distinct parts belonging to different periods :
first, basement of the shrine and the porch which are the remnants of the original temple, are of the 9th century A.D and the second one, Its Shikhara that replaced the original one. It is made up of the heterogenous pieces picked up from the ruins of Jain and Hindu temples.
